AbstractIn this thesis, Adaptive Weight Particle Swam Optimization using Multi Objective Index (APSO-MOI) is proposed to find the optimal size and placement of distributed generation (DG). Seven indices including real power loss index, reactive power loss index, voltage profile index, current index, single phase to ground fault current index, 3-phase solid fault current index and new index- reactive power capability index are used as a multi objective performance index function. Four types of DG including DG supplying real power only, DG supplying reactive power only, DG supplying real power and consuming reactive power and DG supplying both real and reactive power are considered. Test results indicate that on the 33-bus radial, the 69-bus radial, and 183-bus radial distribution systems, the optimal size and placement of multi DG supplying both real and reactive power maximizing the multi objective performance index are obtained.
