Abstract | In this thesis, hydrothermal coordination is used to find the optimal schedule of thermal power plants to meet the forecasted load demand subject to hydrological constraints on the Vietnamese power system in the period 2009-2011. Hydrothermal coordination determines water releases from reservoirs to minimize expected thermal generation costs during the planning time horizon. Three different load demand scenarios including low, medium and high load growth are used to examine on the impact of hydrothermal scheduling. N-1 contingency analysis is also considered. |
