Abstract | Vietnam has the economy on the way of fast development. Due to lack of power sources to meet rapidly increasing load demand, highly loaded transmission lines and non-matured power system thus there are many risks in system operation. In fact the system has been equipped with automatic protection schemes besides well-prepared prevention plans; however, potential blackouts could not be avoided completely. This thesis has studied on intentional islanding scheme to save part of power system once a blackout certainly happens. The scheme aims to maintain power supply to a selected area of Hanoi-capital city of Vietnam. The study includes detailed system design and planning as well as power flow and dynamic simulation (using PSS/E software). Based on the results, recommendations are provided for the stable and proper operation of the candidate island. Applying islanding scheme will be beneficial despite that the possibility of successful operation depends much on un sure match between generation-load and other practical conditions at islanding time. The investment is not expensive in comparison with huge loss of a possible entire system blackout. The installation and operation of the scheme is also simple. Moreover from survived island operators can restore the whole power system quickly. |
