AbstractThis study focuses on the probabilistic power flow utilizing the combination of cumulant method and Gram - Charlier series expansion to tackle the uncertain ties in power system, such as the probability in the system operational conditions or those resulting from the appearance of open access to the transmission network. As a matter of fact, the cumulant algorithm provides a very effective solution to analyze the stochastic network matters as outcomes are as clear and simple as those obtained by performing the deterministic calculation, while the amount of computation is appropriately acceptable. The probabilistic power flow algorithm introduced in this study is applied to two different case studies, which are the IEEE 14 - bus system and the Southern Viet Nam 179 - bus transmission system. The computational outcomes are used to establish the probability density function for each case.
