AbstractAnthropogenic activities are the important cause of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) emissions to the atmosphere. The continuous development in Asian region leads significant increase to the global GHGs emissions. The industry sector focused to conduct GHGs inventory assessment in order to know the critical area of GHGs emissions and to find the options for reducing the GHGs emissions. This study uses the Bilan Carbone method for estimating the GHGs emissions for a sugar factory. The activity data was collected at the Ban-Rai sugar factory for the 2011/2012 season. The emission factors related especially to the sugar factory and Thailand were reviewed and estimated. The study takes into account all the main activities which can lead to GHGs emissions in the factory. The result of GHGs emissions showed in term of tons CO2eq. After knowing the main cause and critical area of GHGs emissions, the options to mitigate the GHGs emissions were provided. The annual GHGs emissions for the sugar factory is 118,509 tons CO2eq.,which is equal to 0.3 kg CO2 eq per kg of sugar. The major source of the GHGs emission for this factory is the incoming material which accounts for 69% of total emissions, followed by freight, energy use, property, packaging material, travelling of people, waste generated and refrigerant leakage, respectively.
