Abstract | Recently, short circuit current in Vietnamese power transmission network has been increasing to higher than short circuit current interrupting capability of equipment. Thus, the objective of this research is to find a suitable solution that can apply in Vietnamese power transmission network by the end of 2015. Rely on the overview of measures that can be used to reduce short circuit current in power system and analysis of their application as well as their advantages and disadvantages, Solid state fault current limiter (SSFCL) is selected to apply in Vietnamese power transmission network. This research also determines the optimal location and parameter of SSFCLs based on Genetic Algorithm (GA) method with some improvements by using sensitivity analysis and equivalent network in order to employ this method in large scale power system. Finally, this study deals with the cost and benefit when installing SSFCL in Vietnamese power transmission network, cost of SSFCLs means the total investment cost of SSFCLs, and benefit of SSFCLs means avoided cost of upgrading equipments at sub stations or reducing power outage. |
