AbstractThis study is to evaluate the performance of the power boiler #2 of the APRIL’s steam generation system. The power boiler #2 is the circulating fluidized bed boiler which combusts co-firing (coal and bark) to generate steam. The bark is the waste produced from wood cleaning process. The power boiler #2 is one from two power boiler which uses to supply high quality (pressure and temperature) which uses to generate high MW electricity at steam turbine. The steam generation from power boiler #2 is at 140 bar and 540°C so that the power boiler #2 must be operated for over a year. The performance (boiler efficiency) of the boiler is analyzed by using indirect method which considering mass and energy balance of the boiler. The data used to evaluate the performance of the power boiler #2 is at steady state. This study found that the operational problems reduce boiler efficiency of the boiler. The operational problems are high moisture content, high actual air fuel ratio, and % excess air. The options opportunities improvement discusses in this study can be used to improve boiler efficiency close to the design.
