AbstractThailand’s energy consumption, especially the industrial sector has increased continuously. The Bureau of Energy Human Resource Development has focus to improve the energy use efficiency and has initiated many achieves to promote energy conservation and energy efficiency in the Thai industries. Capacity building of industrial personnel is an important way to promote efficient energy use. The Bureau of Energy Human Resource Development has conducted training courses to industries. However, the effectiveness of such training course is not known clearly. Thus, this study evaluated the effectiveness of Senior Personnel Responsible for Energy and analyzed the results for improving the energy training course. The observation of the training evaluation indicated that the result of training evaluation by the number of Senior PRE appointed in 2012 was 48.29%. The total energy saving by energy measures adopted in 2012 was 542,903,525 baht which separated to 72,818 MWh for electricity and 532,618 GJ for thermal energy. Research was also conducted to show the effectiveness of Energy Management System (EMS) training for the top management of factories. The EMS performances of three different companies were assessed to analyze and suggest EMS improvement in the companies. The observation of EMS assessment indicated that the EMS supporting information channel for small company should be provided for encouraging EMS in such companies. The experience sharing of energy saving measure between companies could be guidance for energy measures improvement. In order to improve energy saving further, renewable energy is an effective way for improve efficient energy use. The attitude of top management is very important to implement energy saving measure and EMS activities. Thus, an improvement of the energy training course structure is suggested. The Energy Management System course for top management should be designed and enforced to create EMS awareness. The Energy Benchmarking course and Renewable energy course could be established for voluntarily improving energy use efficiency and renewable energy use in the Thai industrial sector.
