AbstractThis study presents total energy consumption and CO2 emission of hotel in Bangkok and Thailand. This study also investigates CO2 emission per person per night of the hotel guest. This study use primary data from National Statistical Office to analyze energy consumption and CO2 emission of the hotel. In 2011, there are 9,865 hotels in Thailand and 683 hotels in Bangkok According to the results, average CO2 emission of the small size, medium size and large size of hotel in Thailand are 15.12, 19.37 and 31.03 kg-CO2 while in Bangkok are 13.49, 16.79 and 32.82. Additionally, hotel provides better quality of service or more facilities such as swimming pool, fitness and spa generate consume energy and emit CO2 more than the hotels where do not that those facilities. This study also forecast energy consumption and CO2 emission of hotel in Thailand and Bangkok in 2030, was used linear regression to calculate the number of tourist in 2030 and then multiply expected CO2 coefficient in 2030 and multiply average CO2 per person per night. The result show that energy consumption in Thailand will growth to 8,652,445,599.19 kWh and CO2 emission in Thailand will growth to 4.68 billion kg-CO2 while energy consumption in Bangkok will growth to 1.96 billion kWh and CO2 emission in Bangkok will growth to 1.06 billion kg-CO2.
