AbstractThere are many advantages in minimizing active power loss and enhancing voltage profile of distribution system. Best three option methods are optimal capacitors placement, optimal distribution network reconfiguration and optimal distributed generation placement which know as an inexpensive option for loss reduction to distribution operation and expansion. The objective of this study attempts to conduct the best scenarios to minimize the active power loss and enhance voltage profile in a radial distribution system by using, optimal capacitor placement (OCP), optimal DNRC, jointed optimal OCP with DNRC, and optimal placement for each type of DG units. Analytical-based combined loss sensitivity indices and CAPO-analysis in PSS/ADEPT application are applied to solve OCP problem. Whereas, Analytical-based heuristic search and TOPO analysis in PSS/ADEPT is used to determine the best system reconfiguration network and Analytical-based loss sensitivity factor is used to solve optimal DG placement. From the economic and financial point of views, net present value analysis is used to evaluate the cost-benefit and pointed out a better scenario for the utility company. The standard IEEE 33 buses and 69 buses RDS is used as a test system in order to make a comparison with the previously studied by other authors. The results of this study reveal that; in terms of active power minimization and voltage profile enhancement, all proposed methods can be achieved a better result by comparing to some of evolutionary algorithms from previous studies in literature reviews.
