AbstractWater resources are constraint while demands are infinite. Both quality and quantity are decreasing gradually. Therefore, reuse and recycling of wastewater are necessary. There are many technologies to achieve such as membrane technology. However, it is expensive and developing countries could not afford. That why woven fabric microfiltration membrane (WFMF) which is more robust and inexpensive compared to other commercial membranes. Hence, this research studied about development of WFMF membrane system for water and wastewater treatment. The good design configuration was investigated and applied for water and wastewater treatment. As the results present that among various configurations. The good design was packed a diamond spacer with two membrane sheets in a PVC enchased frame. It was found that the turbidity rejection was achieved 99.99±0.15% by treating synthetic river water (100-150NTU) while quite limited for pond water due to NOM and algae presented. Additionally, the flux recovery after running was 71±9 %. For wastewater treatment, it was configured as MBR with the constant MLSS of 8000mg/L and HRT varied 15h and 10h. The TSS rejection and COD removal were achieved 96 ± 2.3% and > 90%. Due to these positive performances, WFMF has potential for further develop as commercial membrane for both application water and wastewater treatment.
