Abstract | The nanofibers were prepared by alkali treatment with different bleaching stages followed by biological hydrolysis using rumen microbes. These nanofibers were further composited with silver particle to analyze for its antimicrobial activity. Nanofibers wer e confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X - ray diffraction (XRD), and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Result showed that four stages bleaching is the best condition to do d elignification, was 2.69% of hemicellulose, 6.23% of lignin, and 92.13%. It was possible to obtain width and length of nanofibers ranged from 2 2nm to 98nm and 264nm to 785nm as fermentation time was varied. However, 2days fermentation with 140ml of rumen o f four stages bleaching is the most suitable biological hydrolysis condition for isolate nanofibers because high production and thermal stability was 0.659g/L and 235 o C, respectively. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of silver - nanofibers was fo und at 15mg/ml for Escherichia coli but in case of Staphylococcus aureus the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was found at 10mg/ml. |
