AbstractWork from home entrepreneurs operate in an environment that is challenging in many aspects. Many solutions have been used by the work from home entrepreneurs to help reduce the vulnerabilities faced by them. In Malaysian, a pioneering effort is seen with the formation of eHomemakers‟ as a work from home entrepreneur‟s network. The eHomemakers‟ network creatively combines ICT as a technological solution with also a strong use of barter as a resource strategy. Barter here is seen as a community currency where it is used in place of legal tender. The use of barter is to address needs of becoming visible and creating income opportunities for thework from homebusiness ventures. With barter, needed resources are mobilized based on a valuation system that also challenges market values. This study investigates howcommunity currency exists as empowerment strategy from the case study of eHomemakers‟ network in their struggle for decent work.
