Abstract | Over 60 years, the Kayah communities have lived under much limitations and problems due to constant c onflict that eroded social and economic development of the state. Then mobility is restricted due to lack of affordable transported road and lack of human security. The research aims to analyze gender differences in impact of conflict on daily mobility patterns and how it affected to men and women’s livelihood, and gender roles in Daw Ta Ma Gyi village tract and Hpruso surrounded villages which were one of the conflict zones, isolated areas and lack of transportation and communication in Kayah State, Myanmar . The research was carried out by both primary and secondary data collection . In - depth interview to 59 respondents with 37 males and 22 females who lived in conflict - affected areas and confl ict - affected victims were involved in this study. The result shows that domestic, social, economic and political mobility has intervened in men and women’s life . Since being restricted on their movement, forced labour, forced detaining, arbitra ry taxation, daily messenger, forced porter and lack of civil rights are reproduced the issues of socioeconomic , gender relation and generation al mobility either inside or outside the household. Another fact show s that the three dimensions of coping mechanism such as confronting, avoiding and managing the problems at individual, community and institutional level were operated in their daily life that also fueled to how men and women to be within the society . The last major finding was mobility of men and women were strongly restricted by not only their traumatized experiences but, their own cultural norms led to social and economic exclusion that contributed to violation of human right s . T his study calls for all ethnicities from Kayah state particularly the t wo state parties to seek sustainable a nd real peace among societies . Then, it needs to bring together and share mutual understanding of minority and majority feeling instead of holding each own periphery planet. By abiding international and regional human rights declaration would be able to upgrade individual or human security . T he last but not least , men and women’s mobility in the areas of social, economic and political sphere would be upgrade d if there is better transportation system and peaceful environment. |
