AbstractPlaxis 2D FEM software is applicable in geotechnical engineering problems and tunnel excavation is one of the scopes, it can be solved by for numerical simulations. In tunnel design works requires proper estimation of surface settlement, lining force and facial pressure especially in urban tunneling. In these numerical simulations, application of different models and methods available in Plaxis software usually give different results. The main purpose of this thesis is to show these different results by simulating shallow soft ground tunnel using Bangkok subsoil parameters, employing Mohr-Coulomb model and Hardening Soil model with three methods of simulation for ground loss due to tunnel excavation. Single and twin tunnel are considered in simulations and compare the results which model and method is most suitable for the specific soil condition. And varying pillar width test is run to know the ground settlement and structural forces for each pillar width.
