AbstractParameters of Hardening - Soil model are determined for Bangkok soft clay and stiff clay by performing a program laboratory drained trixial tests and oedometer tests. The model considers non - linear and stress dependent deformability and compressibility of so il that better represents the real soil behavior than the simplified model of linear, elasto - plastic Mohr - Coulomb model commonly used a numerical computation analysis for geotechnical design. For the soft clay soil stiffness parameters were found to b e 3849, 17029 and 8561 kPa for , and , respectively. T he ratio between was 4.42. For stiff clay soil , they were 2739, 6563 and 15170 kPa , respectively. T he ratio was 2.40. Laboratory data was compared with each other studied. In soft clay soil stiffness parameters obtained from CID test were of similar trend, while oedometer test always resulted in higher values. For stiff clay soil stiffness parameters obtained f rom CID test always resulted in smaller values, whilst oedometer test was of similar trend.
