Abstract | A Bank slope erosion and collapse along Chao Phraya River have consistently occurred and caused damages to properties. The incidents are attributed to high water flow in flood season and human encroachment on waterways and bank lands. The study was concentrated on field investigation and mapping of bank slope conditions, existing geological conditions and instability problems of bank slope in Ang Thong province and Ayutthaya province the middle Chao Phraya River zones. It is resulted that river banks in the investigation areas were commonly affected by human encroachment and roadway, data were built right along the river bank increased vulnerability to erosion or sliding. River bank protections were put in many areas of river stretch particularly in Ang Thong province. In addition, computer simulations were used for slope stability analysis of Bank slope protection. Analysis was conducted for comparison between factor of safety obtained from LEM and FEM of bank slope stability stabilized by the representative type of structure. It was found that F.S. from FEM analysis was consistently lower than those calculated from LEM analysis. |
