AbstractThe studysitesarelocated in the Pattani and Cuu long basins where hydrocarbon hasbeen produced from Miocene age sandstone reservoir. Commonly hydrocarbonare producedfrom high resistivity pay zones. However, low resistivity formations in these basins have more and more recognized. Moreover, the well log analysis done for a specific location has rarely been compared with another location in the same or different basin. For low resistivity formation, comparison of log responses and the obtained petrophysical parameters would like to useful in identification of new pay zones. The objectives of this studyaimed to compare their logresponse and petrophysical characteristics of Miocene reservoirsin Pattani and Cuu long basins Regarding the log response values in Miocene reservoir in Pattani (Well X) and Cuu Long basins(Well Y)were studied. The GR values in Well Xand Well Yare slightly different while the density log values of both two wells are quite similar. However, the neutron, caliper and photoelectric factor logs values in Well Xseem to be lowerthan log value in Well Ydue to shale effect in Well Y.Furthermore, the value of deep resistivity log that based on fluid types in the reservoir, showed difference value for each zone. The 19 reservoirs in Well Xwere separated into 6 low resistivity zones and 13 high resistivity pay zones that range from 3 to 8 ohm.m and from 20 to 70 ohm.m, respectively, whereas the all 2 reservoirs in Well Ywere identifiedonly low resistivity that range 0 –5 ohm.m.Regrading the petrophysical parameterswere shownthe density porosity (D) and neutron-density porosity (ND) are quite similar in Well Xbutthey are difference in Well Y. However, the values oflow resistivityzones in Well X seem to be quite similar value in high resistivity zones.Furthermore, the estimation results of water saturation calculation in Well X based on Archie to be 29 to 78%, Simandoux to be 8 to 57%, Indonesian to be 25 to70 % in high resistivity zones, while Archie’swater saturation ranges from 58 to 80%, Indonesia’s water saturation range from 51 to 72% and Simandoux’s water saturation range from 23 to 58% in low resistivity zones. However, the Archie’s water saturation ranges from 85 to 90%, while Indonesia’s and Simandoux’s water saturation are similar ranging from 84 to 85%.Thus, the Simandoux method is the best solution for water saturation calculation in low resistivity in Pattani and Cuu Long basins.
