AbstractPlaxis is a powerfull geotechnical software that has emerged as a tool for both research and practice works. For undrained ananlysis problem, Plaxis offers 4 Methods A, B,C, D to input soil strength and stiffness parameters. This may led to confusions while analyzing undrained problem. So, the purpose of this thesis work is to explore the details of the inputting methods, to compare the difference in results, to investigate the methods that can bring acceptable results to design and construction. This thesis has been done by analyzing three undrained problems: deep excavation, shallow excavation and embankment problems. Where Thiam Ruam Mit station and Central Hospital were selected for deep and shallow excavation problems; AIT Test Embankment was selected for embankment problem. All of inputted data have been collected from previous studies of Hooi (2003), Humza (2009), Tanchaisawat (2007), etc. The three problems have been reanalyze by apply two approaches of undrained analysis. Where, Approach 1 is used Plaxis’s theories and formula, Approach 2 is used common test program and empirical correlation. Results in wall deflection, wall bending moment, soil settlement, and strut force have been plotted and compared. Comparison between two type of undrained shear strength, drained and undrained soil modulus versus depth are plotted to explain the differences in results of three problems.
