Abstract | Generally, transportation is recognized as an essential connection between areas for the purpose of exchanging goods, people, goods and information as well. One of obvious aspects about the importance of transportation is a flourish economic development based on trade doing business among provinces within a nation or nations with the world. The less developed areas gain technology, investment and experience from developed areas to make their economy better. From this respective, local living standard also are improved as the obvious result. This study draws the fact that the facility of transport brings economic and employment chances to local people in the rural area, particularly for women, through Binh Bridge project. This is expressed by analysis the impact of Binh Bridge construction project on women and men’s income and gender relation, brought through changes in employment opportunities as well as mobility. The study will also include additional dynamics brought in the influx of migrants from outside community after Binh Bridge. In order to attain its objectives, the study has explored the changes in transportation and investment in Thuynguyen rural district, changes in women/men livelihoods, how about household income structure and relation between gender division of labor and decision making in these family. Through in depth interviews with one hundred respondents who are local people got employment changes and still keeps the old job, the study discovered that new employment opportunities really brings better life to local people, specially, women with sharing between family members. In addition, outside work and housework tasks are burden on women. Besides economic positive results, Binh bridge construction and new investment in Thuynguyen district also faced to negative impacts needed to solve. It is environment pollution, employment solution to local people without farm land, spontaneous economic activities management, social evil to young generation, gap between poor and rich people in the same area...In conclusion, the study recognized a good and not good point through carrying out the project with lessons and recommends to local authorities to be better in the next projects.
