AbstractIP Multimedia subsystem is designed to deliver a variety of multimedia services over telecommunication networks. Signaling protocol of the IMS is Session Initial Protocol (SIP). To deliver the advanced (user-centric) services in IMS, composition of many services is needed. However, IMS standard does not specify properly the architecture for the SIP based service composition. Better performance and different user experience can be achieved in the SIP service composition for real times services. In this thesis, modified IMS architecture is proposed by adding the new functional entities: Service Enabler Gateway and Application server for SIP based service composition. JSR 289 AS is chosen for the SIP service composition. Service discovery for the IMS services is also included in thesis
