AbstractFor a hybrid MAC protocol for Wireless Sensor Network, each node requires to collect the neighbor information, have a conflict free TDMA slot, decide the frame size and synchronize with the global clock before transmitting data. This report is focused mainly in scheduling phase and data transmission phase. In this report, we propose a distributed TDMA slot allocation algorithm which tries to reduce the number of unused slots. Selecting the slot by simple method and polling the neighbor to update two hop neighbors minimize the running time and message complexity for allocation ofTDMA slots to the nodes so that the algorithm would be time efficient and energy efficient for frequent TDMA slot allocation process. ZMAC protocol combines the CSMA scheme and TDMA scheme to increase the channel utilization of the network. Nodes can access the slots owned by other nodes. If data sending nodes access the unused slots more than data forwarding nodes, then performance degrades because loss increases. This report proposes a priority scheme in ZMAC so that high priority data forwarding node gets more access to unused slots. As a result, channel utilization is further increased and loss is decreased
