AbstractThis work presents an effort on quality improvement in the existing multimediaservices. It is identified that the multimedia services are moresensitive on certainparameters which significantly degrade the service quality inthe target domain. Theissues related to the multimedia services are discussed and ways presented to maximizethe end-user satisfaction in a focused environment. The effects of context reasoning inthe evolutionary multimedia applications are observed and anovel context reasoningscheme based on AHP is proposed to utilize the processing power. Interestingly, thenature of AHP is based on the pare-wise attribute comparison in theproposed homeenvironment. In addition to that, it is found that the serviceresponse time and theblocking probability have notable effects on the user experience. Hence, two evalua-tion models are developed to observe the performance level interms of all the aboveparameters at the target scenario. Moreover, two hierarchical proxy architectures aredefined and the results are compared with an ideal case where no proxy servers aredeployed in the network. The evaluation process in terms of the service continuity givesrise to the investigation of the blocking probability. Thus, the demand for the systemresources is presented with a general birth-death process in the proposed analyticalmodel. In addition to that the importance of reliable and accurate context informa-tion is identified and a novel scheme for anomaly detection is presented based on therate and power anomaly detection. Moreover, the detection probability is measuredfor Gauss-Markov mobility model and compared with an ideal simulation model basedon the Random-Waypoint. Overall, the study contributes to maximize the quality ofservice in a multimedia service environment.
