AbstractThe ad hoc wireless network connection popularity is increasing since it is easy-to-setup and does not requires any infrastructures. In mobile ad hoc network, the nodes are allowed to travel or stationary in any directions. Because of the free form movement, the network might be partitioned which caused in unable to find end-to-end path resulting in no connection and packet loss during transmission. To overcome those obstacles, we proposed an approach of Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) to accommodate those problems. The DTN equipped MANET based on OLSR routing protocol will provides ability to temporary packets storage and packets forwarding mechanism when the end-to-end path is not available. And when the nodes connectivity is recovered, the stored messages will be automatically delivered to the destination. A new routing protocol and discovery mechanism are required to complete the objectives. Once the implementation and evaluation is complete, the MANET on OLSR performance will be improved by this approach.
