AbstractFaculty performance evaluation has direct impact on institutional resource planning. Particularly, the evaluation emphasizes not only on current performance but also on life time achievements of researchers in educational field. There are different frameworks to evaluate faculty research performance. However, each framework is appropriate to apply for given circumstances because of differentiation among field of studies. Also, the existing frameworks make use of limited internal institutional data to evaluate individual performance. The current project aims to propose standard faculty assessment system, which makes use of two basic faculty assessment indicators; faculty research and pedagogy. The faculty research factors are publications, citations, h-index, g-index, author rank and project work; whereas pedagogy utilizes teaching load. Further, the proposed system not only utilizes the internal data resources but also benchmark the research performance of individuals with peers. Moreover, the current framework combines the research performance of individual with teaching load and provides balanced faculty evaluation matrix. The faculty assessment system makes use of five algorithms: documents distribution, citation analysis, Author Rank (developed from the widely known algorithm Google PageRank), project work rank and teaching distribution. The pilot system is implemented based on real data of Computer Science and Information Management department of Asian Institute of Technology. The results can be visualized as tables and graphs.
