Abstract | Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is emerging t echnology and adapting to be used in wide range of applications. Real-time monitoring sy stem is one of the essential applications which can be adapted to use UAV technology. On the other side, Sensor Network is the concept for constructing network from various sensor nodes which can share sensor data to another system as well as provide accessibility to the global user. So, in this thesis, we proposed the system for real-time monito ring by combining UAV technology and Sensor Network. We constructed UAV system using remote-controlled helicopter and various sensors such as GPS, Gyrocompass, Laser range r and Digital camera. Furthermore, we also create the extension of Sensor Observation Se rvice (SOS) and Sensor Service GRID (SSG) which is a part of Sensor Network to support mobile sensor node. Experiments are conducted by flying the helicopter over the area of the interest. During the flight, the system measure environmental data from sensors attached with it as well as capture images of the ground view. After data have been coll ected, it will be sent to SOS implemented as the ground station. Finally, measurement data will be published from SSG to global users as real-time. |
