Abstract | Global Path Planning is one of the most important modules usually found in an intelligent vehicle. An excellent intelligent vehicle system must have excellent implementation on path planning as it guided the vehicle to reach a specified target. In this thesis, a well¬known algorithm for finding optimal path was implemented and tested to verify its performance. The selected algorithms are the Dijkstra and A-Star algorithms which yield optimal path. The system is verified with real GPS data integrated with a pre-defined map structure to provide a navigational information to assist a navigation of the intelligent vehicle. Results extracted from both simulation testing and field testing confirm the suitability of the A-Star algorithm for the navigational path planning task with satisfactory performance |
