Abstract | Fuel gas nozzle is used for supplying the fuel to the burners of a gas turbine and it requires changing periodically. Since the cost of the part is high, and difficult to produce due to the split and joining of the parts in the manufacturing. An approach is made to optimize the manufacturing of the part by using the advantage of the five-axis machine. The reverse engineering is used to get the dimension and feature of the parts by using the coordinate measuring machine. The CAD model is developed for the parts and the manufacturing strategy is developed for various part of the fuel gas nozzle. The geometry of the slot of the part is modified for the manufacturing without affecting its fuel flow rate. Toplpath is generated by using Mastercam software for producing the part and the data are post processed to generate the NC program. Virtual verification is carried out for the generated tool path. Physical machining is carried on the Maho MH600E by using the Wood resin as the Workpiece material. Ultimately, the manufacturing of the part is optimized |
