Abstract | This study presents mathematical programming models for the production planning and scheduling in the production system of paper package in Viet Nam, Bien Hoa Packaging Company. The solution of production planning and scheduling is addressed through a hierarchical framework. Integer linear programming models are used to solve for aggregate and disaggregate production planning problems. The objective of the two models is to maximize total profit. The aggregate production planning model determines amount of monthly products to be produced on regular time and overtime for each workstation, work-in-process and finished goods inventory levels and shortage amount over the planning horizon. The disaggregate production planning model determines weekly plan, output of the first period of aggregate model becomes input for disaggregate model. Sequencing problem is also formulated as integer linear programming model. The objective is to minimize total setup cost. However, LINGO can be used to solve only small problems. In this study, genetic algorithm is applied to solve for larger problems to find out the best production sequence with reasonable time. The models are tested on data collected from the company and they are solved using Lingo software and C #. The efficiency of the models and their results are discussed |
