Abstract | In one intelligent, there are many subsystems inside to assist it run automatically. One of the abilities of subsystems is to recognize and follow the marked road. The real road image is captured and analyzed. The desired information is extracted, and then suitable commands are given out to control the speed and direction. Firstly, the marked road is determined by applying Canny edge detection and Hough transform. Secondly, optimization task is conducted to select an optimal line from a punch of lines. Lastly, offset angle and lateral position are calculated depending on the position of the marked road in real coordinates, and then the commands to control the vehicle are sent via microcontroller. The system can adapt quite well with many road conditions and the average processing time is 0.15 second, so the speed of the vehicle can reach to 6.5 km/h. |
