AbstractUnderwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (UROV) is extensively developed in many organizations and research centers. The characteristics and purposes of each UROV could vary as different researchers have different expertise and preference of techniques of project development. It could also depend on the type of missions that the UROV is meant to be subjected to. The main goal of this thesis is to design and develop an underwater remotely operated vehicle which is manually controlled and automatically balanced its attitude (roll and pitch). Mechanical structure and electronic circuit for the vehicle will be designed, and the proportional controller will be implemented in this research using 8 bit micro controller. The output of the signal control from microcontroller then will be converted into PWM signal to drive four DC motors for balancing. The experimental results show that the vehicle can move in forward, backward, upward and downward modes and the vehicle can rotate in turn-left, turn-right modes. Although, two simultaneous modes still reveal some constraints of the system that can be overcome by the choices of proper thrusters and their installation location.
