AbstractIn the supply chain operation, there is a phenomenon in which the variability in the ordering patterns increases as moving up a supply chain called “Bullwhip effect”. Many researchers have proposed approaches to lessen the bullwhip effect. The bullwhip effect measuring is an important issue to study. In the past, all of researchers who studied the bullwhip measures focused on quantifying the bullwhip effect in term of the variance of ordering quantity in comparison with variance of demand (i.e., volume-based approach). However, the volume-based approach is suitable only when periodic review inventory policy is employed. Therefore, this research is conducted to measure the bullwhip effect using time-based approach for the case when continuous review inventory policy is applied and to investigate the effect of parameters on the bullwhip effect.
