AbstractThis project discusses the issues related to location-allocation modeling of facility. We consider a multi-product, multi-period capacitated facility location problem in which the demands of customers are known and so are the capacities of facilities. The objective function is to select a set of facilities (plants and distribution centers) to open, and to assign customer's demand to them so as to minimize the total cost which includes fixed costs of opening facilities as well as variable assignment costs. The problem is also to determine the amount of products shipped from plants to distribution centers and from distribution centers to retailers, and the amount of products produced at each plant in each time period in order to satisfy customer’s demand.
