AbstractThis research project studied the selective maintenance policy with one failure mode of components/equipments based on the ages of the components/equipments in a serial system. In this type of policy, the system will be maintained in a short period before the next operation period. In the fixed maintenance period, there are only some equipments chosen for maintenance in such a way that the system maintenance cost which consists of preventive maintenance cost and repair cost will be minimized. This problem is addressed in this research project through simulation technique. A simulation program has been developed for the serial system based an @Risk and then @RiskOptimizer was employed to help find solution for the cost minimization model Numerical experiments and sensitivity analysis are also conducted to illustrate the applicability of the models.
