AbstractIn this research project, we establish a model for quantifying schedule delay risk of Block B-Omon Gas Pipeline construction project in Vietnam(gas pipeline project). Bayesian belief networks (BBNs), a technique developed based on conditional probability theory, is selected to be employed for this research.Based on theconceptual BBNs model of Van et al. (2009), Authorhave revised themodel to suite with the investigated project and then used the revised model to quantify schedule delay risk. From the results of themodel and analysis, it have been found that “owner‟s site clearance difficulties”, “slow site handover of owner”, “inadequate contractors experience”and “inclement weather”are the main causes of delay on Block B-Omon Gas Pipeline construction projectin Vietnam. Theseresultsallowthe owner and contractor to recognize their responsibilitiesand how thesefactors affected on schedule delay. This will also help the owner and contractormake the right decision intime in order to avoid the occurrence of schedule delayin the project execution phase.
