Abstract | In Hard disk drive, the purpose of suspensions in head arm is to hold the Read/write head from touching the surface of spinning magnetic disk plate, which rotates from 5,400 rpm to 20,000 rpm. The gap between head and magnetic disk is called “flying” height. The flying height is to protect the magnetic coating and control Read/write on the disk. Head maintains the flying height due to the equilibrium of air driven under the head and preload force applied by suspension spring (sensitivity of preload force/ preload distance). The higher spring rate means higher s ensitivity of preload force variation during Read/Write. This thesis proposes to reduce the spring rate in forming tools. For this research , there are three steps to proceed. First is to check the parameters of the forming tools of suspension and Load beam. Second is to develop a FEA model to change the physical parameter of forming tools. Third is to identify key parameter input variables i n forming tool to develop mathematical model. In conclusion, the experimental analysis and results show that spring rate can be reduced 3.24 %.from the base model. Moreover, design of experiments will be obtained key parameter input variables of mathematic al model. |
