Abstract | In recent years, the applicable legislation in a number of countries permits more flexibility in the setting of inspection strategies (inspection intervals, methods and coverage) for the pressurized equipments through the use of RBI (Risk Based Inspection) technology. It is a technological process which is used to formally optimize the inspection efforts for each equipment item of plant while minimizing equipment failure risks caused by the relevant deterioration mechanisms. RBI takes a very important role in the petroleum and chemical plants, especial in the long term operated plants, due to material deterioration. At some stage of equipment, a risk tolerance or target exceeds, so an inspection of effectiveness is recommended to better quantify the damage state of the component. This research project focuses on RBI approach to manage primarily through inspection. Moreover, it provides the kind of inspection method to identify deterioration mechanisms and failure mode of equipment items. Therefore, it creates a powerful tool for managing many important elements of process units. This research shall use risk assessment techniques of equipment upon Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) method (visual, ECT, PT, RT, UT, etc) in order to build the inspection schedule. |
