AbstractWith the growing techniques, machinery a nd equipment will become more diverse and more complex. The major challenges for the modern maintenance management include distinguishing types of damage process, selecting properly maintenance policy, implementing maintenance effectively, c onducting maintenance ac tivities with the support and active cooperati on of everyone involved. The task of a modern maintenance department is to ensure high plant reliability at low cost. One issue of the state-of-the-art maintenance is the reduction of assets by bundling, standardization and cent ralization of apparatus, eq uipment and spare parts as well as employment of new preventive maintenance concepts to help increase productivity through decreasing downtime, especially un-planed downtime. This research will focus on a quality-based maintenance concept as a main part of a conditions-based maintenance policy applie d to Bayer Vietnam Company. The main ideas are applying quality c ontrol management principle for preventive maintenance plan by using quality control charts as a monitoring tool to follow up and to recognize the status of the packaging machine as well as the production line. This will provide reliable data that can help the engineer s to foreseen trouble which may cause by machine’s components and then lead to machine stoppage. Based on this, a proper action plan can be developed to help prevent un-planned machine downtime.
