AbstractThis research pertains to the investigation of supply chain coordination when the return policy is presented. The supply chain consisting of one manufacturer and one retailer with stochastic demand is studied. Both make-to-stock and make-to-order situationare analyzed via mathematical models. In both situations, two supply contractsthat aresuitable for each situation are investigated. For the make-to-stock environment, wholesale price and sale rebate contractsare studied. For make-to-order environment, wholesale price and revenue sharing contractsare studied. This study focuses on the coordination ability of each contract and also the effectof return policy on the profit of supply chain members. Thesupply chain is coordinated when every members made optimal decision and still gain positive profit. This research has confirmed that the revenue sharing contract can coordinate the supply chain in the make-to-order situation. It can also be confirmed that the return policy parameters can help to allocatethe supply chain’s profit.
