AbstractThere are many kinds of robot action to react like a human but robot that responses with the vision is more interesting. In case of the human, the vision can give them a lot of important information. The ping-pong robot is se lected to be the goa l. Development of a ping-pong robot is a combination of a design for robot mechanism, machine vision and control algorithm. Robot mechanism is designe d the robot to move in two direction for reaching the incoming ball. The machine visi on is implemented by stereo vision to compute the ball position in real world coordi nate. It also requires an image processing to be able to get the correct point of the ball. Moreover, machine vision will decide the position of the robot to make it move to hit the ball by predict the target ball position when it reach the table. Lastly, control algorith m in this thesis in PID controller. It is used to control the position of the robot in each axis separately follow the command that is given by the vision. In conclusion, thesis proposes the robot m echanic with the PID controller for hitting the ba ll and the machine vision for getting the position command to the robot based on the ball trajectory.
