Abstract | One of important key parameters for Head Gimbal Assembly (HGA) are Gram load and Static Attitude. With recent process technology, these parameters could be made and controlled very well from suspension leve l. However, once suspensions were passed through HGA process, these parameters can be changed significantly. The amount of changing of Gram load and St atic Attitude appears to be a repeatable pattern however different along suspension characteristics and HGA process set up. With all the different, it appears th at process engineers have to study amount of changing of each suspensions before actual manufacturing. Other than that, once ther e’s a line conversion from product to product, there’s a requirement to set up line to fit with suspensions before manufacturing. This process of line conversion causes high machine down time which is highly effect to product cost. From this study, mathematical models were created which proved that the model could predict for Gram load, PSA and RSA accurately in certain level. This model could be applied further in suspension design op timization for suspension designer and HGA process optimization for field engineer. From the study, it was observed that several of key factors are factors in while we don’t control strictly recently. S o, it’s recommendation that supplie r engineers have to spend more focus on these parameter in suspensi on optimization and standardization among all suspension manufacturers. |
