Abstract | This study investigated the response of a derrick b arge subject to surface wave generated by underwater explosion during offshore jacket remo val operations using explosive cutting charges in gulf of Thailand by conducting a small-scale physical model test with 1:150 scaling factor. The experiments were carried out with two condition s: the derrick with a mooring system and free floating condition. The model was correcte d the CoG as heavy lifting condition respected to the prototype. The explosions were ign ited under different standoff distances and orientations, varying from 50 to 150 m in a wat er tank. A small quantity of explosives was used to generate the surface wave. A cceleration and angular velocity were measured using an accelerometer and gyro sensor. Nu merical integration was employed to convert acceleration and angular velocity to tra nslation and rotational motion, respectively. This study involves determination of force developed in mooring line using FEA modeling. The result shows that the explosive in starboard di rection can be considered as the worst direction during the operation and the appropriated standoff range of the derrick barge during the operation should more than 100 m to ensu re the flooding damage do not occur. |
