Abstract | Once a well has been drilled, the formation data ar e required in order to determine borehole parameters. This operation called “Well logging” is performed to expose the formation characteristics. Nowadays, two foremost methodologi cal logging tools: Wireline Logging and Logging While Drilling tools (LWD) are playing an important role. Among Wireline Logging tool and LWD tool provide comparable format ion characteristics. Although the results from both methods are quite similar, they a re different in acquiring procedures. Since Wireline and LWD have different limitations, advantages, disadvantages, operating conditions, etc. Appropriate decision to select log ging methods for a well logging project is significant. There are three major well logging ser vices: Conventional Wireline Logging, Drill Pipe Conveyed Logging (TLC - Tough Logging Co ndition), and Logging While Drilling (LWD). Recently, to make a decision selecting well logging method based on decision maker’s experiences. If wrong decision is made, possibility of re-logging or even switch logging method will be increased. Determination of using lo gging method comprises of numerous factors, influential factors need to be collected. Then prioritize of crucial factors have to be allocated. Factor collection, screening, and prioritizing proc ess are achieved by questionnaire. It was introduced to Oil Company (operator) and Service Co mpany (service provider) in order to have the proposed criteria not only be screened and prioritized but also spread new concerned factors/criteria from decision maker staf f. Two sets of data either operator or service provider provides different result. After analyze, operator focus on how the tool can b e run in hole smoothly in “inclination”, weighted the “data resolution” and “tool reliabilit y” in order to run the good tool in hole and retrieve better data resolution for interpretat ion. For service provider aspect, inclination is the most essential factor for Wireline staff. Wi reline operation mostly depends on inclination of the well. For Drilling and Measureme nts staff, dog leg severity is the most focal point. To run the tool out of dog leg severi ty limit, failure of the tool may be occurred. Second most important factors/criteria ar e formation stability which is an essential environment for a performance drilling. A ll priorities are integrated in decision matrix for supportive well logging selection method. |
