Abstract | The Soft Landing Cylinder is equipment used to decrease final set - down velocity of structure during installation. The reduction of set - down velocity results the reduction of excessive force induced in structure at touch down moment. The scope of this thesis is to study mechanism of the soft landing cylinder. T he analytical solution of soft landing cylinder motion was developed by introducing continuity principle w ith the orifice equation . The experiment is set - up to verify the developed solution. The motion of soft landing cylinder obtained from analytical solu tion is compared with those obtained from the experiment. The consistent between both results are observed with small discrepancies. |
