AbstractThis study introduces methodology to study the motion of FPSO to operate in Andaman Sea by using different types of mooring systems. The proposed three mooring systems are namely: spread mooring system, internal turret mooring system and external turret mooring system. The stationary keeping studies the dynamics response of FPSO Platform with its mooring line system in time domain. The proposed platform is in water depth of 200m and, is subject to environmental load of 10 year return period and 100 year return period for operating and extreme storm conditions, Respectively. The motion response will be used to optimize the mooring systems with respect to serviceability criteria of a floating structure. Further use of this motion response is for structural strength design. It can be drawn from the results that three of these mooring configurations are suitable for operation in Andaman Sea . However, in view of overall motion magnitude , the magnitude motion differences between each systems are relatively small to the size of study FPSO. These motion magnitude differences can also be happened due to the normal operation of FPSO. Optimization of mooring systems should be carried out for the cost of the systems, and requirement for operation or projection location.
