Abstract | Production equipment failures leading to unexpected downtime cost the oil and gas operators billions of dollars in every year . In con cern with avoiding unplanned dow ntime and produc tion assurance, the operators need to set up the adequate maintenance program and r eliability application is a widely used technique in managing th e maintenance plan. Within the system re liability application , the concept of Birnbaum measures can be used to determine the critical component in a system for maintenance purpose. In this study, criticality analysis along with Birnbaum measures is applied in three different systems, simple seri es and two redundant systems, for the purpose of reliability impro vement in system design and modification . The reliability and maintainability data for topside production equipment wa s used from OREDA. Then, a ccording to the results of criticality measure s, the maintenance program is managed with better allocated resources and this study also propose d better information of money losses without maintenance and with maintenance to help for maintenance decision making. F inally, this study provides a systemat ic method of managing the reliability based maintenance program for offshore production and it can also be applied in maintenance decision making. |
