AbstractThe original core-based multicast routing protocols construct only the shortest paths between the core and the members in a multicast group without considering the quality-of-service (QoS) requirement. Providing quality-of-service guarantees in core¬based multicast routing technique is a key issue for deploying multimedia applications. To support such a QoS, we need to study a problem so-called multi-constrained optimal path (MCOP) problem concerning how to find an optimal path among all end to end feasible paths satisfying multiple QoS constraints (e.g., bandwidth, delay, jitter, packet loss, etc.). In the main objectives of this thesis, we propose a new heuristic, namely H_MCCBT, for solving multi-constrained multicast routing problem in core-based tree technique, in which the multi-constrained optimal unicast routing heuristic H_MCOP is fundamental step. The simulation results show that Core-based Tree constructed by the proposed algorithm can provide QoS guarantees for deploying QoS-aware applications. Specifically, it can provide values of average throughput and average end-to-end delay better than that of Core-based Tree constructed by the original algorithm with Non-QoS requirement.
