AbstractThis thesis is to identify factors affecting severity of pedestrian accidents and pedestrian crossing time at mid-block section in Thailand. This study can help pedestrian safety programs, policy makers and planners to improve safety of pedestrians in Thailand and it shows that which factors are affecting pedestrian accident severity and pedestrian crossing time significantly.Firstly, ordered logit model is used to identify factors affecting pedestrian accident severity. Secondly, multiple regression model is used to know what kinds of factors are affecting pedestrian crossing time.According to the result of ordered logit model, it is found that darker time, bigger vehicle, pedestrian accident occurred while crossing the road, depressed median, asphalt surface, nightlight, foggy and rainy weather are more likely to be involved in higher accident severity level. As a result of multiple regression analysis, the higher the motorcycle volume and operating speed of vehicles, the longer the crossing time of pedestrian.Even if there is a crosswalk, it could not help the pedestrian to cross the roadway safely. Keywords: pedestrian accident severity, ordered logit model, multiple regression model, mid-block section, crossing time.
