AbstractThe research investigates the entrepreneur competencies analyzes by structure equation modeling to assess the influence of entrepreneur competencies on venture success in a SMEs construction companies in a Punjab province of Pakistan. The research motivated by the aim to provide guideline for an entrepreneur to build such competencies which is essential for establishing a construction firm. Major objective was to distinguish, analyzed, and compare competencies of construction owner with the past studies. The research design is quantitative approach. The questionnaire formulated for this study were derived from Man and Lau (2000) model, the competencies and their measurement variables were established through literature review of the past 10 years of study and verified by the experts who are familiar to the construction activities from owner perspective. The nine entrepreneur competencies were identified with 58 measurement variables to assess the entrepreneur competencies. These competencies were further grouped under professional competencies. The validation and reliability of constructs were done by “EFA” and “CFA” were used to assess the influence of entrepreneur competencies on business success in terms of financial and non-financial measures.
