AbstractMeasurement s are crucial in construction projects that provide information about actual status of the project and make enable the contractor and the clien t to take necessary decision. FIDIC has mentioned several measurements that should be carried out by the contractor during progress of construction project. Poor practice of measurement can lead different site problems on construction site and make the con tractor unable to control them. This research aims to investigate and identify the current practice of progress related measurement in large construction projects in Nepal and its impact on construction site through case study of 4 large construction proje cts. The result shows that most of the contractors neglect the measurements related to the construction operation but they are highly interested in measurements related to the payment. Furthermore, contractors are weak in measurements required for the cla im of time and cost however the client approves time extension easily, but always rejects the cost claim. Moreover, poor practice of measurement related to progress report, program schedule, actual cost and resource idleness has been found in most of the p rojects. These causes contractors are suffering from delay of work and idleness of resources. Hence, at final, the recommendations were proposed to improve the measurement practice in order to minimize these site problems and upgrade the standards of pract ice to confirm with FIDIC.
